How to select multiple files for copy/paste drag/drop?

I am currently using 10.4.11. Plan on switching to 10.6 in a week or so maybe.

I would like to know how to select in finder mulitple files at the same time then copy them to another location? And also just move them?

Just click and drag the box around them, or hold shift click the first.. then the last.. or if they're not sequential hold down cmd and click. To move, hold down cmd and move just like a copy.

Dysfunction beat me.

Well, the "click and drag the box around them" procedure is sometimes known as "band boxing." But almost nobody ever calls it that.

I'm not sure my 10.4.11 is able to "drag a box" around the files. It just highlights all files.

Once they're highlighted, that's when you drag and drop. If you press (and hold) Cmd before the drag, it will simply move the files rather than just paste them. If you just drag and drop it will copy them and leave the original files where they were.

You won't see a box if you are using list view - you will just see the files get highlighted.

Ohh sweet irony of me telling someone how to select multiple files in a GUI. Band boxing.. that was it! Thanks!
