Well I finally had to scratch the itch and build another gaming machine. It had been years since I had a desktop in the house. The machine is a screamer and Windows 7 isn't TOO bad. The only thing I am worried about is being sick of gaming in a week or so. What are you guys/gals playing?

Here are the specs:

Case - Cooler Master Silver Centurion
Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.66 GHz
Video card - XFX Radeon HD 4870 1GB GDDR5
Motherboard - Asus P5Q P45
Power supply - Antec 500W EarthWatts
Optical drive - Samsung 22X Double Layer SATA DVD +/- RW
Hard drive - Western Digital 500GB 7,200RPM SATA-II
Memory - 8GB Super Talent DDR2 800MHz (4 sticks of 2GB)
Monitor - 23" Samsung SyncMaster 2333
Mouse - Razer Mamba

Oh yeah...now were talkin!

I am a bit behind the times in terms of my game box. To tell the truth I have been trying to wean myself off games so as to consolidate space. If I want to game in the future I am debating getting the 285 GTX card for my Mac Pro and going the bootcamp route.

Current my gaming rig is

MB: ASUS Crosshair 590 AMD SLI
CPU: AMD 6400 Black Edition 3.2 GHZ
Mem: 4GB OCZ DDR2 800MHz (2 sticks of 2GB)
Video Cards: 2 NVIDIA 8800 GTX Ultra SLI
Case: SilverstoneTek TJ10 case
PS: PC Power and Cooling 1KW
HDD: Seagate 250 GB
Monitor: 24' HP LP2335
Mouse: Logitech 3000x Laser
Sound: Creative X-FI Extreme Gamer

It's been a pretty decent rig overall. My favorite game, Bioshock plays well (outside of DX10 errors) and it gets decent framerates on most games. Currently I am running Win7 RC 32 bit. Most of the earlier issues I had with Vista went away after the first service pack and some updates, but I simply moved over to Win7 when it came out just to 'see' how it would handle.

Just out of curiosity, why are you running 32 bit? My new machine plays anything I throw at it. The funny part is I am digging Quake Live the most and you could run that game on a 1959 Acer. I cannot wait until the new COD comes out. I can finally get it on the PC instead of the 360. I am not a huge fan of FPS's with a controller.

Just out of curiosity, why are you running 32 bit?

Originally with Vista any thing 64 bit was causing me loads of trouble, primarily in Bioshock. The Creative drivers for my sound card were terrible etc, etc.

I just have never gotten around to trying 64 bit again.
