Hi, got MacBook Pro 2008 version( ruining snow leopard and windows xp on boot camp), last month logic board was replaced with new one, now winnows xp showing this:

Name NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
Adapter Type GeForce 8600M GT, NVIDIA compatible
Adapter Description NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
Adapter RAM 512.00 MB (536,870,912 bytes)

Snow leopard says is only 256 MB on graphic adapter,
My question: why is different.
Kings regards

I would say that SL is more accurate due to hardware being Apple.
Doe's the Ram degrade on the XP?

Maybe windows is set to share some of your normal RAM with the graphics card?

The 8600M GT is a 256MB part, but it can dynamically allocate up to 256MB additional (for a total of 512MB) from system RAM. It sounds like the card is already pulling the full 512MB in Windows, but only the base 256 in OSX, which is the intended manner of operation.
