Powerpoint Hangs - All office 2004 programs work.

Any ideas folks? I've deleted all .plist files and everything Microsoft I can find other than the folder in the applications directory. Cold reboot and the whole shebang. I have a backup from CarbonCopyCloner from just before I did the upgrade and if I boot from that drive Powerpoint works works. I dragged the Office folder from the applications directory on the backup disk onto the applications folder on my internal drive so those files are the same.

It doesn't seem to want to make a 'proper' .plist file, either.

I have a lot of apps on my Mac. I didn't do a 'clean' install. I did specify Rosetta in the install options. But - Everything else I have tried (all my 'major' programs) work and the other office apps work.

Any ideas appreciated!

BTW - It hangs at the "Project Gallery - New" screen. Beachball, and even after 45 minutes it's still hanging. I just finally force quit it.

Did you ever get resolution for this problem? I am also experiencing it. I delelted prefs, repaired permissions, and even created a different user account to test with. It does the same thing every time.

Have you installed "Monolingual" or any other application which removes languages and or PPC code?

Solution!

A coworked of mine found the solution to this problem elsewhere on the internet!

Go to Applications > Microsoft Office 2004 > Office > Type Libraries.

Remove the PowerPoint 11 Type Library file.

Problem solved. If there are any negative consequences to this, I haven't found out yet, so I wouldn't delete the file...

Removing PDFMakerLib from the Applications > Microsoft Office 2004 > Office folder also does the trick!

When I bought my new Mac about 2 years ago, PowerPoint no longer worked. I tried so many different things over the years. Rich explained easily and clearly what to do - and it WORKED!!!! Woohoo!
