Apple AV Composite Cable

I purchased the Apple av composite cable from the Apple store yesterday to playback video from my iPhone 3GS to my TV. The cable does not work. Any suggestions?? I have researched this and have found some with the same complaint as mine and others say it works.

I have both the composite and component cables and both work fine.

The apple cable should work - if not try to exchange it, you might have gotten an old one. The authentication chip was changed recently with the new software upgrade...
