up to date snow leopard on a macbook pro
This problem had been going on for a while. it began to do this only during videos or when there is motion on the screen. but now it shows horozontal static lines that scroll with the browser or stay on the video player.
It also messes with how my images display.
my hard drive is literally empty (just wiped&reloaded w/snow leopard)
no programs that could be the problem... what the heck is going on here!?
every once and a while the display just dies completely. any ideas?
take a look at the problem in the image rendering here:

If you own a MBP wich is still in it's apple care warranty, I'd think twice about this action, but it might be the video-cable.

However if you're a DIY person, you could remove the tape that's holding the video cable onto the logic board, pull it out of it's slot, clean it, (possibly with a can of compressed air) and then firmly push the cable back in it's slot.

I strongly recommend to first go here Laptop LCD Removal Instructions: Apple Macbook Pro, 15.4"

Hope this helps
