Mac mini keyboard help

I bought a new mac mini and also bought the Dynex usb mouse and keyboard combo. the keyboard works but if you don't use the keyboard for about 10 min, it will stop working until you restart the computer.

Obvious answer: Take it back. Get a refund and buy something different.
