So at school many times I will plug an HDMI cable into my MBPro and play a movie on a tv we have. Is there any program or piece of hardware that would allow me to have the movie playing but also allow me to use the computer? What I mean is, when using the HDMI cable it just shows what I'm doing on the computer, so I can't surf the web and watch a movie on fullscreen. Any way I can get the movie to play full screen on the tv while I use the computer to do other things?

Your Mac's Specs
Macbook Pro, 4GB RAM, 250GB HD
go,
system preferences,
displays,
then set the tv display so that it is to the side of the computer display,
then drag the film window off the side of the screen (off the side you set the tv to), on to the tv. That should work!

You also need to uncheck the little mirroring box in Displays.
