I thought I would have got a nicely packaged SL. This arrived.

Is this what you got?

Its labelled as an upgrade DVD, I read that some people think you can do a full clean install with it [without 10.5]. I suppose I might try to do this later to see if it is true.

Is this the $9.95 upgrade for people who bought new Mac with a certain period around the launch or the $29 one for people who own Leopard? If the later mine came in a nice little box with an insert with the manual, a couple of other sheets and a sheet of Apple Stickers and the DVD. Mine does not say upgrade anywhere.

It was the £7 one that is applicable for people who bought a Mac after June.

Now we're getting somewhere. There are actual "upgrade" disks out there which would explain the new section "C" in the Software License.

OK... I am going to try a clean install from this 'upgrade' disk. I'll hopefully let you know how it goes. If not I will post off one of my windows machines! lol :D

Well guys, I had to improvise but I managed to wipe the HDD and install a clean copy of SL off a supposedly 'upgrade only DVD'. It took 22 mins!

I'm just running the Migration wizard.

I'll post a quick how to when done.

All done!

You CAN do a fresh clean install with the update disk.

The MBP is very, very quick now [it was quick before!]. Boot up time has decreased by around 5-10 seconds.

This is a before and after disk size.

I did a little video 'how to' that I will post when I get a chance.
