That's the standard Dock. Are you sure you have Snow Leopard?

Yes, it looks 2D.... There is a dashboard widget, called Dock Doctor, that can change it for you, but I prefer 3D.

Hope that helps.

Yea it's the 2D dock, I have that running right now in 10.5. I'm sure the command would still be the same in terminal.

Agreed the terminal command

"defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES; killall Dock"

Still works. And replace the YES with a NO to change back to 3D

I don't know why but I just don't like the 3D dock, I have always used the 2D. I guess I just like the darker background of it.

So the default is 2D now? Believe it or not, I actually liked the 3D dock.

No I'm pretty sure the default is still the 3D dock. I'm sure the reviewers at Engadget (link in original post) had changed it.

Just finished installing Snow Leopard. The default Dock is indeed 3D, exactly how it was in Leopard. What Engadget has is the 2D Dock, which I personally find to be very good looking in Snow Leopard. Yes, the Terminal command works in SL.

Hmm, the default font seems to have changed across the system. It's much...smoother

You know, you can change that background rather easily. It looks very slick in black and the dots show up better.

The initial pic shows all open windows per F9 or laptop fn F9 which always dims the screen.

What's the technical name for those "dots"?

Or is that what the developers call them, just dots?

Curious minds wanna know.
