This is my first Mac and I've just ordered the Snow Leopard upgrade for $10 (just bought it a few weeks ago). What I'm wondering is: Microsoft is notorious for sending out buggy, unfinished OS's. XP was no good until at least the first service pack was released. Vista, I understand, is garbage that no service pack in the world could fix. Are things the same with Mac? Do they make the end user a guinea pig, as MS does? I guess the bottom line is I'm wondering whether to install Snow Leopard as soon as I get the disk - or should I wait a while and observe?
Thanks
Rudi

IMHO...the OS updates from Apple are much better & much more stable than the what seem to be "unfinished" OS releases from "the other guys"!;D

But that's not do say you won't have some small glitch's, the occasional medium glitch, and even a rare big glitch.

But overall, I would say that being on the front end of the learning curve is less risky with Apple OS releases.

Another plus (at least this time around)...Apple is actually releasing this update earlier then originally communicated...how does that compare with "the other guys"!;)

there will of course be automatic updates, but there are FAR fewer of these for Mac.

There will undoubtedly be some issues with third-party applications early on.

Most software developers don't get Snow Leopard any faster than we do, so many of them have not had time to make sure their applications are compatible. It's not so much that the OS is not finished; just that sometimes, the only way to test things is to release them into the wild.
