iPod Touch 2nd Edition Frozen

My brother has this problem with his iPod Touch. He was on the internet and suddenly, everything froze. He tried to turn it off to restart it, but nothing works. Holding down the Home button and the Power button does NOT work either. I tried to connect it to the computer, but iTunes does NOT recognize it. My computer does not even show anything connected to my USB port and the iPod does NOT show being plugged into a power source.

Can anyone help us out with this? Any help would be very welcome!!
