I have a unibody macbook 13.3"... 2.4Ghz, 2gb, 250GB.
Should I sell it and get the new 13.3" macbook pro with iLife08 and snow leopard included... or just buy iLife08 and snow leopard for my macbook costing around £100.

The mabook pro ill be upgrading to is the 2.5Gz, 4GB, 250GB, with better screen

It's your money, but that seems like a useless computer upgrade to me.

With my student discount I can get a new 2.5ghz macbook pro for £999 i can sell my current macbook for 700 + 100 for snow leopard and iLife so i would be paying £200 for SD card slot, better screen, 0.1GHz faster and 2GB more ram.... is that worth 200?

If not ill just buy snow leopard now.

Not really. Will you need the sd card slot?
You can get 2 gb of ram for under $100.
You won't notice the difference of 0.1 ghz.

I'd stay with what you have for now.

I may use an SD card occasionally.. but not enough i suppose.

Okay well ill stick with the macbook and just buy snow leopard.

Can you do a clean install of the $29 upgrade disk?

We don't really know for sure, nobody has it yet. I'm sure when somebody gets it and does an install they will let us know.

I also agree with sticking with the Macbook, it's a perfectly good machine that can last you quite some time.

Seems to be a popular question/speculation.
Based solely on the price of the "upgrade" disc ($29) vs. the box set, it seems to me that it is only an upgrade from 10.5. Plus everything surrounding the $29 price "item", we'll call it, on Apple's site uses the term "upgrade" repeatedly. So, that's most likely all it is - an upgrade, not a full install or replacement.
But again, we won't know 100% until someone installs it and tells us. (I'm putting my money on upgrade only) ;D

Why in the world would you go thru the hassle of selling your current computer & buy a new one just to get "Snow Leopard & iLife"".

You never said anything about needing a newer computer...so just buy the software, and stick with what you have!
