sharing audio with a second speaker euiped monitor

Hi, I just bought a ViewSonic monitor that comes equipped with speakers similar to the iMac's and want to share the audio signal from my imac with this new screen. But the only way to do this that I know of is to use a mini-jack from the headphone jack to the input on the new monitor. And this turns off the iMac's internal speakers leaving again with only one audio source.

Any help is appreciated.

don't you think it'd sound odd with the same sound coming from different types of speakers??

Why do you want to do it?

i've been looking for the same solution.. i have my old external PC speakers which i use when i want some bass in my music or audio however the internal speakers have a larger and clearer treble range.. so being able to use both at the same time would give me the best of both worlds.. bass and clarity!
