I am in need of some sort of application that does text to speech. I know what you're going to say, just use the speech command in system preferences, but I don't want to have to Command A and then the speech command every time I want the computer to say a phrase. What I would like is an application that says each word as you type them, like it says each word after you press the space bar.

Thanks for the thing about TextEdit, I didn't know that. I would still like an application that can speak as you type, if anybody knows of one.

All I can really do with voice over is make the computer say icup, then I chuckle. If I try to do a word like... "dog" it does Dee Oh Gee
