I am having some serious Macbook Pro trackpad issues. I CANNOT get it to select something in an image editor. All I am trying to do is crop a photo. I have had a Mac before, a four year old Pro. This new trackpad is driving me nuts. Any tips? I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Excuse my naivete if this is a stupid question, but I really can't work it out. My usually method for selected text doesn't work at all.

You can rest your thumb on the bottom of the trackpad. Then move your cursor with your index finger. This mimics the older MBP's track pads.

I am not quite sure what you are having problems with, but I would suggest a mouse for any editing, games etc.

Assuming that your trackpad is working properly, maybe you just need to get used to it..."practice makes perfect"!
