So, I recently reformatted my Early 2008 Santa Rosa MacBook for no real reason (I know that Mac's don't need routine re-formats like some people do with Windows). However, I had a quick questions. Even now that I reformatted the computer, it is just as slow (or as fast I guess we could say) as before I reformatted it. I noticed no increase in speed after the reformat. Why is that? Also, when I bought my MacBook, it booted in 32 seconds flat. Even with the reformat setting things back to normal, the MacBook takes 48 seconds to boot. Does anyone know why?

I appreciate any responses ahead of time.
Thanks

Have you run Disk Verify on the HD? A failing HD gives slow response time.

Well, did you?

After the format, did you install anything and then time the boot or is this right after the install?

Right after the install the boot time was 42 seconds. I will run the Disk Verify sometime tonight and report tomorrow morning. I don't see how the hard drive could be failing considering I my MacBook is less than 2 years old-Not even 1.5 years old yet (very soon, not yet).
