using Time Capsule for backup without internet connection

I bought a TC planning on using it as a router/backup just before moving to a new apartment where my neighbors' wireless networks are strong enough for me to free-load. (It makes me a bad neighbor, I know, but as a food service worker in my mid-20s, I'll take any breaks in monthly bills I can get.)

Is there a way to set-up TC to work as a backup via ethernet without configuring it to work on a wireless network at all? It seems like it wouldn't have been difficult for Apple to make the TC work as such, but I'm having a hard time figuring out if it's possible.

I searched through this forum and another mac forum looking for a similar post, but found nothing. If anyone has any advice or can redirect me to where this has already been answered, I'd be extremely grateful.

Thanks!

From what I've read on the Time Capsule on Apple's own website, I don't think it makes a difference if you connect via wireless or ethernet, the Time Capsule should be recognized either way.
