Iphone 2g question

i have got my Iphone today only one of the older ones iphone 2g.
i have got everything working...once i found where to put the sim card :)

the only thing is email, it wont connect and just comes up please check the information and your connection, i am connected to my router, and everything else connects ok just not email, any ideas?
