• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I bought a pretty sweet minidv cam. Samsung SCD6040. It came with software for a windows machine, which is cool, since I do have a windows desktop. I want to use my Ibook with this camera. I have all the right connections, firewire and whatnot, the thing is, I don't have any software to use the cam. Whats some good software for streaming video from my cam to the laptop?

iMovie is probably your best choice, did it come with your G3?

If not you can get it for around €79,- as part of the iLife '05 package.

Definitely the way to go...

Final Cut Express might be a decent middle ground between iMovie and FCP. FCP is used most often when you make a living off of making movies.
