Hello,

Put a new hard drive in. Installed OS X 10.5,
Easy, no problems.

Installed XP Pro SP2 using boot camp.
Two problems.

1: No left-click facility and erratic mouse behaviour (using standard Macbook trackpad)
2: No boot camp icon in system tray - so cannot reboot in OS X - unless I shut down and use option key on start up. Also means that Windows becomes default start-up from cold, (because the Windows disc was the last option selected in System Preferences>Start up disc)

XP worked fine previously on this Macbook on previous HDD.

Any quick fixes? Or just a bad install of XP?

Switcher - becoming more and more convinced of Apple superiority - but still need Windows to run a specific Program.

Thanks in advance, CB
Macbook black, 2.4GHz, 4GB, 500GB (7200)hdd

Have you put in your Leopard disk while in Windows to load drivers and Boot Camp?

Ah! No, I haven't done that. I'll give it a go and report back.

Many thanks for quick reply.

Superb!

Many thanks, bobtomay.

I ran the Leopard disc in XP and now everything is working fine and dandy.

Excellent reply, you're a credit to the forum.

Thanks again.

Now run Apple Update in XP to update bootcamp drivers to the latest and things will be even better :)

Thanks nbrowser.

The Windows partition is completely offline. (I only use it for an edit suite program and anti-virus programs often conflict. Therefore simpler to keep it all offline)

But I may be able to get Apple updates for Boot Camp on the OSX side of the hdd and transfer them via USB stick or disc etc to the Windows partition.

Thanks again for the suggestion.

All the best, CB

Oops!

Just to bring this thread to a close:

Transferring the latest updates from a download on OS X via a USB stick did not work at all, in fact it messed up the whole XP partition.

So, I ran XP's System restore to take it back to where it was before I installed the new updates and then re-ran the Leopard disc (late 2008) back through the system and now everything is back to normal.

I guess that if I had XP online and could update it direct, it may have worked but it wasn't happy with the transfer from the USB.

Final thanks to nbrowser and bobtomay for the help provided, everything now working just as it should.

Cheers, CB
