Hello,

I have a G5 Intel Duo Core 2ghz imac. I bought it in 2006 but I need to work out if it has a Yonah OR Merom processor.

This site says the Yonah supports 2gb memory and the Merom 3.3gb

Do you have any idea how I can work out what is actually inside my imac?

Something else thats interesting is this is a duo core processor but windows (argh) says there is only 1 processor?

Thanks.

Hello,

I have a G5 Intel Duo Core 2ghz imac.

No you don't! There is no such thing as a G5 Intel Duo Core iMac.

It's either a:

- Powermac G5 2.0ghz iMac
- Intel Mac Core Duo 2.0ghz iMac
- Intel Mac Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz iMac

As you can see there are multiple options here. Please post with exactly what model you have, and what exact info you are looking for about it.

Sorry, booting osx has made this a little clearer. I really need more than 1.5gb ram as at the moment its using nearly 1gb with hardly anything running. Im actually tempted to completely format too.

Here is the processor specs:

Hardware Overview:

Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 2 MB
Memory: 1.5 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz

My current memory is:

BANK 0/DIMM0:

Size: 1 GB
Type: DDR2 SDRAM
Speed: 533 MHz
Status: OK
Manufacturer: 0x7F7F7F2500000000

BANK 1/DIMM1:

Size: 512 MB
Type: DDR2 SDRAM
Speed: 533 MHz
Status: OK
Manufacturer: 0x2CFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

The extra 512mb ram was installed by apple.

Aye your true there. I've added the extra 512mb by replacing it the existing 512mb with 1gb. For £12 I won't complain it'll make some difference in World of Warcraft and at least I know its the best its ever going to be. My imac is just starting to show its age now however I still love it.
