Removing iBook memory

Can you take out the RAM that came preinstalled in the iBook?

No, you can't if you are referring to the built in ram. If it was upgraded by way of a chip, you can remove it and replace it with a chip of a different value.

You can remove the ram stick thats underneath the keyboard , but you cannot remove the solderd built in ram .

Older iBooks came with 128MB soldered in (non-removable) and 128MB in the expansion slot (removable).

But on newer iBooks the 256MB are soldered and thus non-removable, so you can also now add more!

Yeah, its already on the logicboard. Thats why they only give you 1 ram slot. Atleast i think they do.

Actually you can remove the soldered memory. All you need is a hammer and chisel.
