Hello. I just have a question which is, I have an iMac G3, and a PowerMac G3. The iMac is dead, but the last time it worked, the drive to read disks (whatever you want to call it!) was working. I also have a PowerMac G3 that works just needs a new disk reader so I can install an OS to play around with the old thing. So, I was wondering that if I took apart the iMac and put that disk drive in the PowerMac to replace the broken one, if it would work??? I want a disk drive in the thing! Please respond and help! Thanks! (PS the only reason I'm asking instead of just trying it, is because sometimes the iMac does work and before I kill it for good I just want an answer of yes or no if this would work)

Is the PowerMac G3 beige or blue and white?

Okay! Thanks a lot! If I decide to go though with it, this will really help! So the drive will work with the PowerMac 100%?

Various Mac's
There were 2 types of iMac G3's, they either used a tray or slot loading laptop style optical drive. The Powermac G3 uses a 5.25" desktop optical drive. They are physically different and although both use an ATA interface, the connectors are completely different too. ATA 5.25" optical drives are cheap, I'd either buy a new one for the Powermac, or scrounge one from a dead Powermac B&W G3, G4 or eMac.

I have a Mad Dog cdrw in my B&W. Many high end drives will work in the B&W.
