And two i really want to get windows office back on my laptop as i use excel for finance and budget etc, i have office and student 2007 which doesnt work on the mac, is there anyway to get it to work because i dont want to pay £90 for office 2008 not yet anyway dont have the money.

you could use iWork which has both spreadsheet and word proc and the beauty is that you can import word and excel docs and even export in those formats or others if needed. iWork 09 provides most features that one would use except for specialist stuff. Laptop i have added felt stick-ons to the base to give mine an extra bit of room for airflow and the fans speed up very seldom.

The fans blow out through the slot at the hinge. Be sure to not block this area when you have it resting in your lap. And if you have a habit of doing so, or using it in bed, on carpet, etc.; pick up a stand for it. I think my legs have permanent red marks on them because I don't use my stand all the time.

As for Office.. you could use Boot Camp, or VirtualBox by Sun and then install Windows so that you can use your Windows programs. Or for the office suite you could try OpenOffice 3 or Lotus Symphony, both free and both do a way better job than iWork can do. iWork is nice for great looks, and basic stuff, but if you spend a lot of time in Excel with some huge equations etc, it just doesn't cut it.. but if all you are doing is Budget, etc.. then iWork would probably work out great for you.

Your best bet might be to try each of the aforementioned products. iWork and Office have trials and OpenOffice and Lotus Symphony are free. Only you can judge best what meets your needs. ;)

As for your first question, follow the advice of bobtomay. Ensure that your MBP is on a hard surface that allows for easy airflow and avoid using it on soft surfaces such as carpets and beds.
