• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hey Guys!
I want to get a new camera. I have a fast PowerPC Mac with Leapord and a whole lot of ram. I want a camera with...

-External Mic Plug
-Preferably HD
-Brand Name(Not Aiptek, DXG, Mustek)
-DOES NOT RECORD ON MINI DVD'S!
-Price Range-($0-$275) preferably, ($275-$400) MAX!

Can you help me!

I have been looking at...

• Aiptek ActionHD GVS

Aiptek High-Definition Digital Camcorder - Black (ActionHD GVS) : Target
Two cons-Not a brand name and Manufacturer does not offer extended warranty, if bought, you must buy one from target or amazon!

• Sanyo VPC-CG10 HD
Amazon.com: Sanyo VPC-CG10 HD Flash Memory Camcorder w/5x Optical Zoom (Black): Camera & Photo
The only con is I cannot connect an external microphone

• Sanyo VPC-TH1 HD
Amazon.com: Sanyo VPC-TH1 HD Compact Flash Memory Camcorder w/ 30x Optical Zoom (Silver): Camera & Photo
The only con is I cannot connect an external microphone

The new Kodak Zi8 about to be released looks interesting. You'll have to do some research on compatibility with your Mac. I think it will be fine. The spec says it does H.264 with ACC audio and does not mention only the use of a Mac that is Intel. Search YouTube for some sample movies.

The HD video cameras that do AVCHD are a problem for PPC system because Apple didn't provide a decoder for them. I'm think of higher end cameras, not the pocket ones such as above.
