I’m looking into buying a new or second hand Mac book but I’m a bit confused buy the specifications.

I want the Mac book purely for graphic design projects and want to install Illustrator and photoshop. I also want to use a graphics tablet and pen.

The second hand ones don’t seem the hold enough memory.

Could anyone advise a model?

Thanks

Do you want it to be a laptop or a desktop? I would suggest a macbook pro or a iMac depending on what you want, you just have to narrow down to what screen size you want, I would also suggest sticking with the stock amount of ram and upgrade it yourself to save you some pretty pennies and it is very easy to do.

Yeah you need to decide to get a desktop or a laptop. I would go for a MacBook Pro if you want a laptop, or an iMac if you want a desktop. I think you should get a new one if money is not an issue.

For that type of stuff, I definitely suggest a MBP.

I would suggest either a Power Mac G5 if you're looking for second-hand... and a Mac Pro if you're looking to buy new.

For what you're talking about doing, you should not get a Macbook. If you go for a laptop, get the Macbook Pro. Actually, for any serious graphic design and photoshop work you really should be running a Mac Pro and using a large Cinema Display monitor.

I just installed Photoshop CS4 on my mac book 13" and it runs great!
It was MOLASSES on the PC! You can always plug into a larger monitor and put photoshop tools on the 13" screen and work on the larger monitor. Lots of options.

Any Mac for sale will run Photoshop and Illustrator with ease. You don't need a hefty Mac Pro. I'd recommend 2gigs of RAM, 3 preferably.

The main issue is the screen. Personally I'd hate to work on a 13" laptop screen, so think about how you'd tackle that.
