Hello,
For the last couple days i've been trying to burn backup data onto some dvds and i haven't had any luck. I have a MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857 firmware revision: HAE4. I tried repairing permission today and taht didnt' seem to work. I have tried two different types of media memorex and staples and i know memorex has worked before (idk if they changed how they made there dvds or whatnot). Any ideas? I have two spindles here i apparently can't use becuase my dvd player won't take them.

The drive may be defective but before replacing it, try cleaning it first. Cleaning kits are sold at most stores which sell computer related items. Radio Shack stocks them.

Regards.
