AppleMail with Googlemail - deleting/unread emails not syncing on googlemail.com

if i delete a message on my applemail app or when i read one, it doesnt respond on googlemail.com

i have BILLIONS of facebook emils i want to get rid of in my googlemail account and its pissing me of quite a bit... i used pop btw.

I don't even bother with my facebook mail anymore, I just made a rule within gmail (not apple mail) to automaticly mark as read and archive, it completely skips going to my mail box on my computer.

Are you using POP with Gmail or IMAP? If the former, yes, it will behave that way.

POP mail works by downloading the mail directly to the local mail client. At that point, there is a disconnect between the server and the client. Some mail clients can be set to synchronize changes made by the client, but for the most part it doesn't happen on-the-fly like it does with IMAP. Fortunately Mail.app supports IMAP with Gmail. You just have to configure it:
