Ok so when I bought my ibook for reasons I may never know it didn't come with classic. I managed to get a hold of 9.2 then I tried to install it to run with OS 10.3 but when I run classic it says it can only be booted from its original CD, When I try to boot from there it says "Cannot boot from read-only drive"
Please please please please please HELP ME
(MUST PLAY D2!!!!!)

First question, is your OS 9.2 a full install or an update install. If it is an update, you will need OS 9 full install and then you can use the 9.2 update.

The iBook G4 cannot boot with OS9...neither from CD nor from harddisk.

Do you have to boot from the OS 9 media in order to install the classic environment?

new hardware cant boot into os 9 or from an os 9 disc, it comes on it already to use sort of as an emulator where you can run classic apps from.

Ya but I can't even emulate anything because I don't have os 9 installed because it won't let me install it.

I know. the ONLY way you can run os 9 on your ibook is to find a friend with a mac that has classic installed, burn the classic folder to a cd or dvd, then drop it on your hd. you can delete things you dont want or need though, like like extensions to apps you don't have(you don't copy the apps folder, in your had, make a folder and name it "Applications(OS 9)" and classic apps would go there. this is a risky, and sometimes tricky manuever, but it's the only way, and I'd NEVER recommend it unless it's the only way. be careful if you try it. I've done it several times successfully. never unsuccessfully.

The Classic that comes with newer computer is not the same than the one that's on original OS9 install CDs. Use Software restore from the DVD/CDs that came with the iBook, and you should be able to install Classic.
It's not possible to install it from an OS9 setup disk.
