First Photoshop Attempt

So I was messing around with photoshop today for the first time and this is what I came up with. Let me know what you guys think:

First one looks tacky because you can tell what filters you used.

The second one is better. Looks really surreal.

Without seeing the original images and edited ones side by side, it's difficult to give a complete critique since we can't see exactly what was done to enhance or edit the image.

Sure, some things are obviously added/edited. We still need to see where to came from in order to tell you how well it was done.

Very nice. Keep at it. May I reccomend Scott Kelby's series of books on Photoshop, they are great.

I think you have done a great job for your 1st attempt, but as CrimsonRequiem said the obvious filters are there, but in time you will perfect these!

It would be great to see the original image as mentioned.

The first one would look a bit better if the lightning was more smooth and the sky was less red. That is, if you were going for a realistic look. The second looks a bit better but one can see the individual pixels.... not good. Saving it as a larger file will definitely help. Other than that, you did a great job working with Photoshop. May I ask what version of PS you used?
