I'm running an iBook G4 and recently started receiving kernel panics. First only when internet browser was loaded, then began receiving it random. Thought it was hardware related so I ran AHT looping overnight, everything passed. Backed up, erased, reinstalled the system. Still receiving panics, could get through the installation until network setup. Reinstalled again, now panics are random. AHT several more times, nothing turned up. Pulled RAM, now only running only off integrated RAM. Now it gray-screens right at startup with an illegal instruction error. Thought it might be airport card for a while, but now that I can't even boot to DVD, I'm skeptical. I also read to try and boot to target to diagnose possible HDD fubar, did this and booted to Firewire target successfully. I have Rember to test for onboard RAM failure, but still trying to figure out how to boot it from the command prompt, even though I can't even get to the command prompt right now. Any help from here would be much appreciated!!

UPDATE:
Pulled RAM and now running of integrated RAM. System remains on for less than 5 seconds before kernel panic. Logic board passed the hardware test previously. Does this not test not include on-board RAM? Is the logic board fubar? Anyone in the community care to share their expertise???

Wow...sounds like you've done a pretty darn extensive amount of troubleshooting & testing before posting...good for you!:)

After reading everything you've already tried, I find myself stuck trying to come up with an idea of what to try next.

I don't know if this will help, but have you tried resetting the PMU?:

Resetting PowerBook and iBook Power Management Unit (PMU)

Good luck,

- Nick

p.s. Can I assume that you haven't spilled a beverage on this computer?;D
