I have a g4 powerpc 1.5gb ram, and 1ghz processor. I've tried taking off the hardware upgrades but still only the fans run when I power up, I think its a motherboard issue. Help please.
if I have to buy a new motherboard I would like to get one compatable with 4gb of ram and 4ghz processor and leopard, is this possible to accomplish, or worth it?
Note: with a 128gb hd with lots of expensive programs that I'd like to keep. Thank u.

You may be able to get a replacement processor or mainboard, but the kind of specs you're talking about are not possible on a G4.

You could try and have it repaired, or buy another used PowerMac as it would be fairly straight forward to pull back the data from your hard drive when you get your replacement machine.

Perhaps this Apple Discussions thread will be of some help to you.

EDIT: If you wish, you can read this Apple KB article about resetting the CUDA as well.

Thanks for your help but changing the battery didn't. I heard next thing to test is the power supply or motherboard.

is there an easy way of knowing if its your motherboard that has gone bad or your power supply?
