Problem viewing YouTube & other online videos

I have a new MacBook Pro. When viewing videos on line, I experience a number of pauses where it seems like the video is loading. The pauses last about 7 seconds during which time there's a circle of white dots in the middle of the screen that go round-and-round until the video starts again. Do I need to update my software or take some other kind of action to prevent this problem? Thank you!

Sounds to me like it's trying to buffer. Meaning it's your connection.
