For something a little bit different

I am looking to do something similar but the new drive is an used one from my GF's damaged unibody. It is a 2.5 SATA so I believe it is compatible but is there something I need to do in order to wipe it clean before I install it in my Macbook? It is currently used as an external so I have access to it but if I can just install and boot from disk and re-install "over" what is currently on it I will do that too.

Thanks!

Yep, that will work just fine. Install it, boot from the install DVD and mow right over it. You can choose to reformat it if you like, but it is not necessary in most cases.

The 300 has to do with the capacity of the HDD being counted differently by the computer, than by the marketing folks. Marketing folks say a gig = 1000MB, while computers generally call a gigabyte 1024MB's.

Congratulations Zeek on the installation of the hard drive & OS.

Not so hard was it!...your head would EXPLODE if you knew how much that would have cost you if you went to the Apple Store to have it done!

Enjoy,

- Nick
