unlocked iphone 3gs

Hey,
i have my unlocked iphone 3gs....there were a whole lot of contacts I wanted to delete at once...so i tried the restore all setting and content...which erases the data on the iphone...it was taking way to long so I forced restarted it...and now its not booting, its stuck on the apple logo.

I want it back to 3.0....no problem if its locked as long as i can unlock it again.

would putting it in restore mode and restoring from itunes 8.2 bring it back to 3.0?

put it in dfu mode while its hooked up to the computer and restore using itunes. be patient dont interrupt the process

would restoring it return it to factory settings or to the newest firmware

ex: I got the iphone 3gs with 3.0....and 3.1 is out. will it get restored to 3.0 or 3.1
