Final Cut Pro serial number issue

Hi,

I have upgraded to FCP 6.0.5 from FCP 5, after the installation FCP (runs fine) wants me to put in the serial number every time I start the program.

Any hints what to do to the get rid of it?
A friend said 'is your root directory write protected?'

I am running it on a G4 powerbook.

My guess is that upgrading from FCP 6 from FCP 5 requires a new serial number because the upgrade likely costs money. Frequently, upgrades to new major versions (such as 5 - 6) require an upgrade fee. Did you not get a new serial number when you purchased the upgrade?

If you are not already doing it, you may have to run the software once from an administrator account. If the account you are using is the only account, then it should be an administrator account.

You could try fixing permissions via the Disk Utility application in the Utilities folder.
