I want a 16-35 f/2.8.

Wide angle portraiture is fun and goes against "the rules"

Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM.... almost says enough right there. I primarily shoot fast paced sports in low light situations. I turn off the IS for most events though. I can't wait to hook it up to my (soon to be mine...) 1D MK2N....

Nikkor 105 F2 DC. Sharp at all apertures, great bokeh, and smooth skin rendering.

By far my favorite.

I gave mine away with a 300D to a friend of mine that's interested in photography. May buy another or a 50 1.4

Don't have yet. It's about $1600. I may just end up with a 17-40 f/4L

I use an older D80...

My favorite Lens is a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8

Takes fantastic pictures... it is a little heavy and large for an all around lens, but when I need good shot, it is the best. I use a monopod 90% of the time just for each use.

I also carry around a 50mm fixed f/1.8 for close shots of the kids.. and some creative depth of field shots.

Those are my two primary...

I would be curious to know where everyone buys their gear?

I recently wanted the 70-200 f/2.8 and couldn't afford the Nikkor (not did I need it) so I bought the Sigma version.

I looked at local camera stores and they all started around $950-1000 for the Sigma and were willing to negotiate down to $750ish.

Then I found B&H and got the lens for $615 earlier this year. Although I was worried about ordering something that expensive online from a retailer I knew nothing about, it all turned out great.

Where does everyone else buy? Is there anyplace else like B&H or is everyone mainly buying at local shops?

My favourite is my Nikkor 24-70 f2.8.
Its sharp, focuses quickly and gives lovely bokeh, it also balances nicely on the D700
downside was the price! (but it was worth every penny)
I buy mainly from a nikon specialist in London (Grays of westminster) personal service and a 3 year guarantee

I buy them off amazon... if not at Best Buy. Things that I would get warranty for I buy at Best Buy or Ritz, but anything else off Amazon and I've never had a problem.

I love my bigma lens, mainly because it goes to 500mm and i love photographing wildlife. Its also great value for that size and other lenses that size are out of my price range

Hands Down I Love my latest Lens Canon EF-S 10-22mm ultra wide angle lens
On a Cannon 40 D The distance it give you in tight situations is great and when you do a close up a few inches form a subject at 10mm has a great effect. Pricy but worth every penny
