My niece just bought the sims 3 and the minimum required is leopard 10.5.7 to play it on a mac.

She has an old macbook and its running 10.4.11 - I tried installing the leopard for my macbook pro from the install disk but it said cannot install on this computer - I'm not sure how she would go about updating to 10.5.7?

Please tell me if anyone knows, Thanks.

Discs that come with a Mac are specific to that model. Plus, installing the same copy of OS X on more than one machine violates the EULA.

You install the 10.5.7 update after installation. That OS X disc just happens to come with 10.5.6.

Updating to 10.5.7 is just like updating to 10.4.11 from an earlier version of 10.4.

How old is the MacBook? Chances are Sims 3 won't even run on it anyway.

Good point. Check the system requirements here and pay particular attention to the supported video cards (in my experience, this is usually the piece of hardware that limits most games from working).
