MacBook Pro and Mini Display Port

I have the 13 inch MacBook Pro and a 23 inch HANNspree 1920x1080 LCD with VGA and HDMI inputs. It appears that the mini display port to VGA adapter is about 2 times as much as the mdp to HDMI adapter... what are the differences between the quality of these two displays?

I have a VGA cable, already... I would have to get an HDMI cable ($6+ I've seen).

Any thoughts?
