Got a friend's macbook air (I'm the IT friend, but I only know Windows/Linux) and the screen is really blurry and messed up in certain areas of the screen. He said it happened after he watched a certain porn vid and it's been blurry ever since. The laptop is fairly new, maybe a year or two old, yet I've never seen a problem like this before which makes me think that it's a buggy software issue - [rant]I would really like to hope the hardware isn't messed up from watching too much porn, and if so, what's all this hype about how Mac's are safer than Windows computers? I've been a PC user for about 10 years and have never had software corrupt my hardware (and I've had plenty of viruses).[/rant]

I've already done a full format/reinstall but the thing still has the problem, leading me to the conclusion that it is a hardware issue. I could be wrong though and was just posting on here for some feedback/suggestions.

Thanks for your help and sorry for the rant, I am just basing it off of personal experience and am a bit confused as I have always heard how Macs are "safer" for browsing the net than a Windows machine.

Definitely not software, that is a graphics issue. He only mentions what he was doing at the time out of guilt. It is quite coincidental.

If it is still under warranty or he has Applecare on it, he should call and make an appointment at an Apple store.

In the meantime you can run the Apple Hardware test - how to.

Thanks for your reply - I'll give the hardware test a try.

Yeah, it must have just been coincidence because that really doesn't make any sense how a porn vid could damage hardware..
