Hello,
Does anyone know if there has been any rumors about if apple will use the i7 mobile version processors for macbook's or macbook pro's and if so when? I'm intersted in a new macbook/macbook pro within the year (at latest probably in May 2010) and am wondering ii there is any rumor of a new processor cause i'd probably get it shortly after that.

Thanks,
Qua Sar

Sorry if this is in the wrong section and sorry if you find another post in another spot... i couldn't find it.

Right now there is not even a definitive word from Intel as when the i7 mobil chips will be released. So even the hint of seeing one in a Mac or a Dell is pure speculation.

why would you want the new i7 processor? for a laptop u dont need that.

How do you know? Maybe you don't need that kind of processing power in a laptop, but that doesn't mean that no one does.

True a day will come when we will have the "need" for either a tri or quad core in a laptop.

What does "need" have to do with it. Personally, I "want" it in my next machine. And there really is nothing wrong with this, now 31 month old one, I'm sitting here typing this on. If we only bought what we needed, the economy would tank worse than it is now. I'd guess somewhere between 75-90% of us would not even have a computer in the home, much less be paying a 25-50% premium for a notebook instead of a desktop.

At the price I can build a Core i7 system, I'll certainly not be purchasing any computer with less than a quad core.

For those interested in the Intel roadmap, the current speculation can be found here.

My point was that. The core2duo has been out in the macbook's for awhile and i thought i had heard it may change soon to the i7 processor (i thought) and if it was this year or close i was going to wait to see about that before getting a new macbook. And some people may want that power in a laptop if they use it as there main desktop anmd do 3d rendering.
