So, before Voice Control on the 3GS, you used to be able to press and hold the Home button on the iPhone to kill an app that was not responding.

Now with the iPhone 3GS, this activates Voice Control. How do you kill an app without restarting the phone on an iphone 3GS running 3.0??

I believe that holding the sleep/power button will kill most hung apps in 3.0

Hold the power button until you get "slide to power off" and then hit the home button until it kills the app.

This only gives you an option to power off the phone. It doesn't kill the app

Hold the power button until you get "slide to power off" and then hit the home button until it kills the app.

on the "Slide to power off" screen, the home button doesn't do anything

You need to hold the power button until "Slide to Turn Off" screen appears.

Then you HOLD home button for ~5 seconds and the app will force quit.
