Slides to iMac

I have hundreds o slides. i w3ould like to put them on my iMac. What is best way?

Epson make a slide scanner which will convert the pics into digital format, eg. .jpg or.png. Your other option is to buy a slide adaptor kit for a flat bed scanner, but it doesn't work as well as a specific slide scanner. If you have film strips that haven't yet been mounted to cardboard frames, you can scan those strips with a slide scanner.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I'm currently on the market for a slide scanner. Can anybody recommend one that's still available? Ideally if you've used it beyond the warranty period...
