I have a 3 year old Macbook (version 1.1 I believe) and am having major problems with wireless internet signal stuff.
Anywhere inside 25 feet radius of my router, and I can get and maintain an internet connection just fine. Things are great. Unfortunately, if I go 40 feet away from the router, the radar signal goes down, istumbler goes below 50% and I can't get on the internet.
The worst thing is that it's sort of hit and miss. Sometimes it works fine (for about 15 minutes) when I'm in another room in the house. Give it some time and eventually I lose the signal. Wouldn't you know it, when I went to the Apple store, it was working relatively fine.
The genius said I should check my router for firmware upgrades (none are available). I also use a pc notebook and it has no trouble with catching a signal. There's no phone, microwave or baby monitor interference. It's a tiny house too!
I've been combing the forums for a month trying to find out if someone has a solution, but I haven't found anything.
Could something be fried or messed up on the inside of my macbook? Can anything be replaced? I'm totally at a loss and could use some help. Even pointing me to some other post would be a huge help.
Thanks,
John
