SMC Firmware Update Error

Try downloading the firmware update again and run it once more. You may have gotten a bad or corrupt download. Also make sure it's the correct one for your machine.

I am pretty sure it is the correct one for my machine as it was automatically downloaded (Software Update). I'll try downloading and installing it again, thanks.

In that scene i would try downloading and installing the Combo updater for 10.5.7 and then try the Firmware update if it is still recommended Dont do it from the software update in Apple menu but go for the full 700+MB download - Mac OS X 10.5.7 Combo Update

Alright, it's done. I figured the problem. Even though I erased (cleaned, not deleted) the Boot camp partition which had Ubuntu Linux on, the computer still started in the "BASH" black screen thing which I used to choose "Linux" from, but of course the OS is not there anymore. So I had to hold the alt (option) key every time I start, and that's what messed it up. When I chose Macintosh as start up disk, it worked fine.
