Firstly, hello all macforumers. It's unfortunate that my first post here is such a desperate one, but hopefully you can help or at least point me in the right direction :] As always, I have searched about this problem and haven't found any helpful info, so if this issue has been discussed before, my apologies.
I have a 20" 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac with a 230gb LaCie FW HD. I've just recently done a clean install of Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.6. Everything went smoothly, however when I started moving my files over from my external HD I noticed it was moving at an absurdly slow pace. Specifically moving files from anything outside the internal HD *to* the internal HD. What I mean is, when I tried to move a file from my external HD, a shared computer via ethernet, or a mounted .dmg it would transfer at something like 5mb per minute. ..God awful, I know.
I'm used to transferring gigs at a time between hard drives and shared macs. I use my iMac for practically everything. Fun, school, work, *everything*. So this was a horrible thing to wake up to.
On other forums, people have advised me to run diagnostics on my internal HD, but using misc. SMART apps, Disk Utility, Maintenance, and Tech Tool Pro 5, everything has passed.
Please, please, please help. I am in limbo here! lol
Here are some screenshots of the activity monitor, to show you how odd it is that while I'm trying to move over many mb of data, it's barely budging.
