Stuck behind a firewall :( HELP!

I'm trying to configure various P2P apps to search for files on the P2P networks, but I'm having problems configuring proxies and ports to 'see' the networks. Is there a quick n easy way to get though the firewall?

The firewall in question is a corporate windows one, and using the Mac on the network means that I can adjust MY network settings to get Safari, Transmit FTP and other tools configured correctly to get outside into the big bad net. But all the P2P programs are 'connecting...' without actually connecting. Obviously this is a problem with the firewall my end.

Any ideas?

PS. I'm not really a hardcore techie so please excuse my ignorance!
