Hi, I am in Niamey Niger at an American School. I am trying to configure a Mac Pro with Mac Server X.5 to act as the network server, file server, and that is just the start ... it is a new Mac Pro 8-core with 8GB RAM and 4-1TB hard drives.

I am trying to replace a linux box that is providing a static IP network. I can connect the Mac to the network. I can replace the Linux box and connect en0 (ethernet port 1) to the gateway. But when I connect en1 (Ethernet port 2) to ANYTHING I lose my connection with the outside world. I cannot even ping the gateway. I have turned off the firewall for testing purposes.

Do I require a network card in the PCIe 2.0 slot? Or am I overlooking something?
