windows based itunes library on external

I have an iTunes library built in Windows (kept on an external hard drive), and I want to load the library on my MacBook Pro so that I can take the external and my mac on a trip and be able to play it (DJ, actually). My library is very large, and well organized. Does anyone know how I can load the library on my Mac with all the playlists etc?

I'm not sure that what you are asking is possible.

iTunes stores the play list and play count info separate for the actual library. So while you can make iTunes see all the files on your external drive, I don't think you could get access to all of your previously made play lists.
